Editor's Choice - Best of E3: PlayStation 4

Editor's Choice

SONY emerged from E3 as the "gamer's choice", sticking to a fan-pleasingly traditional set-up for its PS4 console. But as ever, what E3 is really about is the actual games - and the PS4 was hardly found to be lacking in that area either...

Tom Clancy's The Division on PlayStation 4 at GAME

Tom Clancy's The Division
Ubisoft pulled another surprise of near-Watch Dogs proportions this year by unveiling this MMO set in a world where disease has wiped out most of America's population. Expect to take to ruined streets with friends on the hunt for supplies and fight rival players; all while non-next gen-owning chums can unleash airborne death via a drone on their smartphone or tablet. How cool is that?

Destiny on PlayStation 4 at GAME

Destiny
Halo creators Bungie finally unveiled what it's been working on for the past five years with this spectacular-looking multiplayer first-person shooter set hundreds of years in the future. Us humans must team up and fight across the solar system to stave off aliens who want to smite us from existence. Yep, you may have heard it all before - but Bungie's startling vision for its rich online world coupled with its inevitable rock-solid gunplay mean that Destiny could be bigger than Halo...

The Witness on PlayStation 4 at GAME

The Witness
SONY is currently having a love-in with the indie scene, promising an open door policy to all small devs. As a signal of intent, the company unveiled The Witness, a puzzle adventure game from the creator of the hit indie title, Braid. Set on an uninhabited, beautifully-realised island, expect Myst-like exploration and puzzles that will offer 24 hours of gameplay.

Killzone Shadow Fall on PlayStation 4 at GAME

Killzone: Shadow Fall
The first-person shooter series that never quite managed to step out of the mighty shadow cast by Halo is aiming to make a bigger splash on the next-gen console. Sumptuous graphics and the usual high-octane gunplay sees the sci-fi shooter looking the part - but will the gameplay prove to be as engrossing as that of its nemesis?

infamous Second Son on PlayStation 4 at GAME

inFAMOUS: Second Son
The Infamous series has been one of our favourite of this generation thanks to its super-powered gameplay set in a third-person world. This latest instalment stars an all-new character, Delsin Rowe, a grungy graffiti artist/oik who develops superpowers and inevitably sets about using them on Seattle, blowing up its security forces and buildings. Cole would be proud...

Honourable Mentions

Watch Dogs - We have been deeply in love with this highly original open-world game since its unveiling at last year's E3. But after being treated to more footage of Ubisoft's kingpin this year, we're ready to get down on one knee and pop the question. Before surreptitiously hacking our future betrothed's mobile phone.

Mirror's Edge - EA only showed a brief trailer for the cult game's 'reboot' but it was more than enough for Faith fans to go potty online - expect an open-world game starring our favourite parkour runner fighting for survival in a sci-fi dystopia (albeit a beautiful-looking one). We can't wait.
