Capcom, Sega and Namco team up for Project X Zone

Gaming crossovers used to be unheard of, but now it's not so unusual to find rival publishers collaborating on titles. Capcom has pitted its Street Fighter cast againt Namco's Tekken line-up, and even arch rivals Mario and Sonic shared the screen for the London Olympics.

Project X Zone looks like it may be the most ambitious crossover game yet, however. A tactical role-playing game, it brings together over 200 characters drawn from the games of Capcom, Sega and Namco Bandai.

So you'll find unlikely combinations such as Resident Evil's Chris Redfield, Devil May Cry's Dante and Dead Rising's Frank West appearing alongside Mega Man, Ryu and Chun Li. From Sega come characters from Virtua Fighter, Valkyria Chronicles and Resonance of Fate, while Namco Bandai offers up familiar faces from Tekken as well as cult favourites .hack, Xenosaga and God Eater. Tag team battles take place across open plan grid layouts, drawn from locations in dozens of games, with spectacular combo attacks based on who is on your team.

Project X Zone is a 3DS exclusive and will come to the UK on July 5th.
