Nintendo has delivered another of its regular fact-blasts, via its Nintendo Direct online webcasts, and there are many nuggets of nourishing information to digest.
Most importantly, there's a new Zelda game on the way, exclusive to 3DS. The game will be a direct sequel to the 1991 SNES classic A Link to the Past, and will boast an updated version of that game's top-down graphical style. The map will be the same version of Hyrule from the original, but there will be all-new dungeons and locations while gameplay will make use of the 3DS to offer new abilities and features. One example teased in the game's early trailer shows Link turning into a 2D mural that can slide around walls and reach new areas.
There's also a new Yoshi's Island game coming to 3DS, which will be a platformer and a completely different game to the Wii U title Yoshi's Yarn. And, completing the Classic Nintendo trifecta, the 3DS will also be getting it's own version of Mario Party later this year. That's on top of the previously announced Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and the RPG Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, which has been given a European release date of July 12th.
Fans of cult Japanese gaming can also give thanks to Nintendo, as we'll also be getting localised versions of cult RPGs Shin Megami Tensei 4 and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, plus the Level-5 compilation Guild02, which contains adventure game The Starship Damrey, shooter Bugs vs. Tanks! and B-movie inspired sim Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale.
Looks like it'll be a busy year for 3DS owners!
