Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Originally touted as an exclusive Wii U launch title, Rayman Legends, Michel Ancel's gorgeous cartoon platformer, will now release on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well, publisher Ubisoft has announced.

"We heard from many Xbox and Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system," said Ubisoft's European marketing exec Geoffroy Sardin. "We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game."

The Wii U version had been slated for release on 26th February, and a demo was released for the Wii U in December, but all versions will now come out at the same time in September.

The move may not come as much of a surprise to anyone who followed the development of the previous game, the absolutely wonderful and critically acclaimed Rayman Origins. That was planned as an episodic downloadable game for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network before growing into a generous boxed game before release.

Rayman Legends will now come to Wii U, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in September. Rayman Origins is out now, and is one of the best platformers in years. Give it a whirl.
