Old school shooter Painkiller: Hell and Damnation coming to consoles

Hell and Damnation, a remake of the hilariously gory first-person shooter Painkiller, will be coming to both PC and consoles just in time for Halloween, publisher Nordic Games has revealed.

Back in 2004, Painkiller was a relentlessly fast and freaky horror shooter set in a demon-infested world. You fought back against the monsters with an arsenal of outrageous weaponry, including a gun that launched giant wooden stakes. With the help of some superb ragdoll physics, you were able to impale enemies and pin them to the scenery. It's a style of play that has been revived fairly recently - original developer People Can Fly was also behind the over-the-top Bulletstorm last year.

Members of the original Painkiller team have now reformed as The Farm 51, and have completely rebuilt the game from the ground up for current generation consoles. The game will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on October 31st, alongside a special edition containing a multiplayer skin and tarot card power-up, as well as an art book, DVD documentary, stickers, a poster and postcards.
