Angry Birds spin-off, Bad Piggies, getting a boxed PC release

Those troll-faced green pigs will be busting out of their phone-screen prison in October when Rovio's Angry Birds spin-off, Bad Piggies, comes to PC in a standalone version. The PC edition will include free DLC level packs, making it even bigger than the iPhone game.

Unlike the point-and-flick catapult carnage of its parent game, Bad Piggies tasks you with designing and building a series of contraptions and vehicles to transport the globular porkers across each level. There are, apparently, millions of combinations and construction is handled via a simple drag-and-drop grid.

Bad Piggies will launch on PC shortly after Angry Birds makes its console debut. The budget-priced Angry Birds Trilogy launches for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and 3DS on September 28th, and includes the original Angry Birds, sequel Angry Birds Seasons and movie-themed spin-off Angry Birds Rio. The Xbox 360 version's also been designed for Kinect, so you can twang and launch the feathered fowl using motion control.

Angry Birds Trilogy is being published for Xbox 360 by Activision, while Focus Entertainment handles Bad Piggies on PC.
