Kid Icarus: Uprising multiplayer details revealed

Nintendo has shared new details on the unique features that will define the multiplayer component of Kid Icarus: Uprising for Nintendo 3DS.

The high-flying action-adventure offers both local and online multiplayer battles for up to six people, with free-for-all and Light vs Dark team matches both available.

In Light vs Dark mode, two squads of three competitors fight it out with different weapons and try to exhaust their opponents' health meter, after which point the last remaining team member is transformed into an angel, who must be defeated to end the round.

Adding to the strategic depth of these battles is the weapon customisation system, which lets players earn and combine different instruments of destruction, while some power-ups can also be swapped wirelessly via StreetPass.

Kid Icarus: Uprising hits 3DS in March 2012 and also includes a single-player campaign combining on-the-ground action with hectic, combat-heavy flight sequences.

Developed by Project Sora, the team behind Super Smash Bros Brawl, the game comes bundled with a new 3DS stand and special Kid Icarus AR Cards.
