Activision has announced that it is working on a sequel to the smash-hit Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, which will introduce all-new toys and characters to the series.
Skylanders Giants is coming in autumn 2012 and will feature new worlds and challenges, while adding more than 20 new collectible figurines to the range, all of which can be scanned into the Portal of Power for use in the game itself.
Included among them will be eight giant figures that are twice the size and power of regular Skylanders, while other toys will include light-up technology that makes them glow when placed near the Portal of Power.
Meanwhile, all of the existing Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure figures will be fully compatible with Skylanders Giants and will retain all of their stats and custom options when brought forward.
Eric Hirshberg of Activision said the game will feature "more ways to play and explore Skylands than ever before".
The first Skylanders title was one of 2011's biggest success stories and is available now on Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
