New gameplay details revealed for Kid Icarus: Uprising

Nintendo has provided players with fresh gameplay information on its forthcoming series revival Kid Icarus: Uprising.

The new Nintendo 3DS title arrives more than 25 years after the original NES classic made its debut and comes loaded with innovative features to bring the franchise up to modern standards.

As heroic angel Pit takes on Medusa and her Underworld Army on land or in the skies, he will have access to a wide variety of weapons spanning nine categories, including bows and claws, as well as a powerful Exo Tank in certain sequences.

The game also introduces a new feature called the Fiend's Cauldron, which can be used to increase the Intensity rating of the game, thus introducing stronger and more aggressive monsters, but also greater potential rewards.

Skilled gamers will need to earn hearts in-game and placing them in the cauldron to heighten the Intensity, bearing in mind they could lose this total if they are defeated during the chapter.

Kid Icarus: Uprising will launch in March 2012 and is developed by Project Sora under the direction of Masahiro Sakurai, acclaimed creator of the Kirby and Super Smash Bros franchises.
