Super Pokemon Rumble
The Pokemon universe is a Guinness world record-breaking franchise and that universe just got bigger thanks to the series's first-ever outing on the Nintendo 3DS with Super Pokemon Rumble...
It takes something special to ensnare the affections/obsessions of millions of fans and make them do questionable (and section-able) things. One mad fan has collected 14,410 pieces of Pokemon memorabilia; another addict has racked up the perfect score of 999,999 points in Pokemon Puzzle League, and the Pokemon phenomena has even inspired science white-coat types named the protein 'pikachurin' after the Pokemon 'Pikachu'.
Expect this collective obsession to be stoked further with the arrival of Super Pokemon Rumble. Featuring over 600 Pokemon to collect and use, the game's premise is simple enough select your Pokemon, move from area to area and pile into other Pokemon in brawls, pressing up to two buttons to launch attacks. Beat them and you might end up befriending them, meaning you can go on to use them in combat. Sound simple? That's because it is, and such simplicity is the key to the game's addiction-bating success.
Now factor in 3D spangly effects, some mega boss battles (who too can be befriended if given a drubbing), bigger battles with rival armies and most importantly, a two-player mode where chums can team up to win over as many of the clock-work critters as possible; it all adds up to a complete time-eater as you try and snare every Pokemon.
If this all sounds alien to you, fret not just give Super Pokemon Rumble a, erm, tumble. And if you should find yourself addicted, we wish you the very best of luck on your quest to amass a Pokemon memorabilia collection of 14,411 pieces...
