Sega has confirmed that the latest instalment of its acclaimed Yakuza crime series will receive a European release in March 2012.
Yakuza: Dead Souls will be released exclusively on PlayStation 3 and will provide a twist on the gritty Japanese gangster drama by introducing a zombie infestation to the equation.
Set in the red light district of Tokyo, it will be the first Yakuza game to feature gun combat and will see players utilising pistols, rocket launchers and machine guns to fight off the undead, as well as their gang rivals.
Dead Souls will include all of the original content and downloadable add-ons of the Japanese version Yakuza: Of the End, as well as a brand new minigame called Pachislot.
Gary Knight, senior vice president of marketing at Sega, said: "We know how much people love Yakuza in the West."
The PlayStation-exclusive Yakuza series has proven a major success both in Japan and overseas, with the most recent instalment Yakuza 4 winning great acclaim on its UK release earlier this year.
