Dragon's Dogma 'will be a totally new experience'

Top Japanese developer Capcom has promised gamers that its forthcoming fantasy epic Dragon's Dogma will be unlike anything the company has ever produced before.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the game's producer, told the official PlayStation Blog that efforts are being expended to create a sense of total freedom in the new title, which is the first open-world RPG Capcom has made.

The game will feature around 400 different characters that players will encounter, each with a distinct personality and backstory, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in a world of dragons, myths and choices with consequences.

However, Mr Kobayashi noted that Capcom will also be aiming to bring its action game expertise from titles such as Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 4 to the table.

'Dragon's Dogma will be a totally new experience in many respects,' he promised.

The game is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 and is due for release in 2012.
