Popular monster-battling franchise Bakugan is to receive a new Nintendo DS spin-off game later this year.
Activision has confirmed a holiday 2011 release for Bakugan: Rise of the Resistance, a new type of Bakugan experience that combines action RPG elements with tower defence gameplay, while showcasing 35 unique Bakugan creatures.
Playing as Dan or one of five other Battle Brawlers, players will be challenged to prevent dark forces from threatening New Vestroia with a powerful army by exploring and battling across more than 30 levels.
The game will mix exciting action scenes with strategic thinking, as players face off against their foes and work their way towards climactic boss encounters.
David Oxford of Activision Publishing, said: "We look forward to producing this new Bakugan title and it being embraced by kids for its innovative style and incredibly unique gameplay."
The most recent Bakugan game to be released on Nintendo DS was last year's Bakugan Battle Brawlers, which also came out on Wii and PlayStation 3.
