The Sims 3 to arrive on 3DS for launch

EA has confirmed that its forthcoming 3DS version of The Sims 3 will be ready in time for the console's launch window this spring.

The new handheld version of the smash hit life simulation game will arrive in stores not long after the device's March 25th 2011 debut and will introduce a number of features that take full advantage of the hardware.

For example, players will be able to use the system's 3D camera to take a picture of themselves that will then be automatically transformed into an in-game character via facial recognition technology.

They will then be able to swap their new Sims wirelessly with other 3DS owners as they walk past them in the street using the console's StreetPass connectivity.

The Sims 3 for 3DS will also introduce Karma Powers, allowing players to meddle with their characters by shaking the game to unleash an earthquake, or blowing on the microphone to release butterflies.

It is set to be another exciting year for fans of the series, as 2011 will also see the launch of The Sims Medieval, which transports the action back into the magic-filled Middle Ages.
