• Modern Warfare 3 spawns limited edition 360 console

  If you're the sort of player who isn't content to merely play Modern Warfare 3, but needs a tangible real world connection to the game, train your scope on the upcoming limited edition MW3 Xbox console.

  It's a 320Gb model, and comes with a stylishly distressed grey-and-black military exterior so you can pretend you didn't just pick it up from the shops but dragged it through the rubble of some foreign warzone as shells exploded right next to your head. Two custom controllers, also sporting the special edition Modern Warfare skin, are part of the package.

  The console also boasts exclusive Call of Duty themed system sounds and comes with MW3 Avatar items and a month's free access to Xbox Live - because apparently you can play shooting games online these days. A similarly branded wireless headset will also be available separately.

  The console bundle has been confirmed for a European launch alongside the game on November 8th, and is available from gamestation. For those not in the market for a new console, the game will of course be available for PlayStation 3, PC as well.

• Xbox 360 to get new BBC TV content and more

  Microsoft has announced that the multimedia capabilities of Xbox 360 are to be greatly expanded thanks to new partnerships with various TV content providers.

  This holiday season, a new Xbox Live update is to be released that will provide UK console owners with access to content from the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, LOVEFiLM, Screenrush and many more.

  It comes in addition to the Sky TV and Zune on-demand content already available to Xbox 360 fans and strengthens to the console's claims to being a one-stop entertainment hub.

  Kinect owners will be able to take advantage of the extra convenience of browsing all the online content using simple gestures and voice commands.

  Microsoft's Don Mattrick said: "Today's announcement is a major step toward realising our vision to bring you all the entertainment you want, shared with the people you care about, made easy."

  The Xbox 360 celebrated its fifth anniversary last year and is still going strong, thanks to blockbuster Kinect sales and major exclusive titles such as Gears of War 3, Forza Motorsport 4 and the forthcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.
