Universe at War
Sega bring us the quirky RTS game Universe at War, and for those who used to to love strategy games then this is an essential purchase. It will sit lovingly on your collection next to C&C3 and LOTR Battle for Middle Earth. The menu sytem is quick, very easy to get to grips with and there is no need for a keyboard with this game in my opinion. The graphics are polished and it is challenging even on the easy settings, so be warned. There are three main factions to fight through, each unlocking after successive completion of the previous so it will keep you going for a while. The scenario mode is expansive and will have you cursing your own mistakes and is similar to playing Risk - a fantastic additiion and loads of replay value. If i were to punch a hole in the ship i would add that there is the occasional slow down whilst the Xbox tries to 'handle' everthing going on and PC purists will reflect that this is the problem area still for the 360! Prepare to lose days of your lif

i like this game its in the same vein as c&c 3 but adds a touch of variety with the alien technology the three races are all very different, you build bases and base defenses and a army ,apart from one race which base is a huge tripod thingy that you can customise with different weopons, one thing which i did not like is that the weopons feel under powered somtimes your stood next to a building shooting it for ages befor it crumbles , my huge walker thing was shooting at a single infantry bloke and it took 5 shots to kill it,the weopons need beefing up a bit, they have implemented some brilliant new console control mechanisims, which all console rts games should use,you can have 90 units on screen as your army but some of the bigger units count as more ,your army feels small compared to c&c3 armys, thers skirmish mode and world domination mode which is good and of course the campaign mode, but it lacks that addictive gameplay of c&c3 ,but saying that i do like this game ,7.5/10
