The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct - GAME Exclusive Walker Herd Survival Pack Product Details

Released on 22-Mar-2013

The Walking Dead GAME Exclusive Edition Contains:

In this exclusive DLC pack you will have access to the all-new Herd Mode where you need to fight for survival against endless waves of walkers. You can’t afford to rest!  In addition, fight off walkers in the story mode with a new arsenal of melee weapons including a survival knife, sawtoothed machete, kukri, reinforced hatchet, and advanced machete. With ammo scarce and the undead attracted to loud noises, a sharp, silent blade might just be your most trusted companion.

Note: A New Game must be started to access the extra weapons.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a first-person action survival game that brings to life the authentic, heart-stopping horrors of the AMC Emmy award-winning TV series The Walking Dead. In the game, players assume the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon alongside his overbearing brother Merle. Join them on a haunting, unforgiving quest across the Georgia countryside to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta.

At the end of the world, is any place truly safe?

The Walking Dead on Xbox 360 Features:

  • PLAYER CHOICE & CONSEQUENCE - Use wit to stay alive in this post-apocalyptic world.
  • RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - Scrounge for food, water and ammunition to survive.
  • SURVIVAL TACTICS - Walkers are attracted to sound and smell, use stealth to avoid attracting herds.
  • SURVIVOR CHOICES - Helping survivors can bring benefits – but not everyone can be trusted.
  • When it was announced that Activision was working on a first-person action game based on hit TV show The Walking Dead, many assumed it would be an all-out zombie slaying FPS. That's not the case, but developer Terminal Reality understands why people jumped to the wrong conclusion.

"I can understand how that happened," Glenn Gamble, the studios art and systems designer, told VG247. "You have Activision who is well known for Call of Duty, and then you hear 'Oh my God, a first-person Walking Dead game'." It turns out that the game will be a more methodical and terrifying experience. "We really do want to challenge the traditional undead game," Gamble said. "If you notice a lot of undead games throw a lot of zombies at you."

That won't happen in Survival Instinct, which has used the TV show to balance how difficult the undead "Walkers" will be to defeat. Just three of the shambling flesh-munchers will challenge novice players, while even the developers admit to struggling to handle six or more at a time.

So what of that FPS viewpoint? "One of the reasons we went first-person with this game is with a first-person camera you can't look around the next corner in front of you," Gamble explained. "So that helped create that tension you see in classic movies and in The Walking Dead show, especially in the prison when they're running through the hallways, and they don't know if there's no Walkers, one Walker or twenty down the next hallway until they actually get there."

Terminal Reality has good form where video game adaptations are concerned, as the studio developed the official Ghostbusters game which reunited Bill Murray with his former co-stars.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is out on March 29th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC.

Awesome !!!!
When I first received this through my mailbox (I preordered) I was highly anticipating what it would be like one thing I was looking forward to was the possibility of online co-op but to my disappointment there is none or any online at all but as I started to play the game however and got into it the absence of multiplayer was made up by what turns out to be very clever gameplay and story. Having to scavenge for everything from food to ammo and vehicle parts and also you select how your group travels via which routes and also add and dismiss your group as you go along Some nice jumpy moments that are well timed as well which reminded me of when resident evil used to be scary 9/10 Highly recommend not just for zombie and walking dead fans but for fans of fps games. As well

This game could of had so much potential!
I've got to be honest, this game sucks. I'm one of the biggest Walking dead fans, zombie fans you'll ever know & I was super excited for this game. Regardless of how much of a fan I am this game sucks. If you've ever played Left4Dead and aware of the graphics, this is like major down grade from that The occasional screen tear as well. The concept of the game top marks. If you use your 'zombie' knowledge from the TV show you can fly through this game! It's fun to play but not something you can repeatedly play over and over like the Arcade walking dead. In order to get some of the achievements like someone has already stated you do need to replay. The idea of playing as Daryl and completing missions in order to survive sounds pretty amazing and it would be if their was multiplayer which sadly it isn't. If you find yourself easily bored after about an or hour so of gameplay then just trade it in. During the game you will have members join you in your group. Whilst you continue you on your mission you can assign these too specific tasks. Clicking them will tell you their age, what weapons they prefer, a bit about their personality. If you choose for example someone to go look for fuel with a gun it will also give you a risk percentage. Say 74%, pick wisely. I don't hate the game and I don't love it. Pros: -You get to play as Daryl -Surviving, scavenging gives you the feel of being in that actual situation. Zombies can just appear from nowhere, sometimes making you jump a little! -You can choose what kind of route to take. -Good choice in weapons -Ability too give assign a task to anyone who's on your team (aka group, for example I assigned some cop to go look for fuel whilst I played the mission.) Read carefully on their preferences before choice. -Makes you use your brain. You can't just pick up a weapon from nowhere an go on a zombie killing spree in order to reach an end point, you have to use tactics and good thinking in order to survive. Cons: -No multiplayer. This would be so much better if you had multiplayer, create your own team and work through the story together. Maybe having small side tasks that can build up skills like shooting or stamina. -Graphics, need I say more -Longer stories -Maps rather than compass to point out your direction. A map would be handy with maybe a pointer spots to where upcoming zombies might appear from. Though it would be less realistic as the adrenaline runs a little when one just ups from nowhere. -Better distractions (You can collect bottles, flares that you can throw in order to distract the zombies) I found that if you had multiplayer, your team mate could easily distract whilst you move forward. I managed to make this game fun by having my friend in an Xbox party and both playing at the same time, guiding eachother and both lending a hand via headset throughout the mission. This is the closest I could get to multiplayer and is fun so make the most of it! Buy it pre-owned or rent. Overall I feel the game was rushed and the major disappointment is no multiplayer I can live with terrible graphics. Everyone
