Terminator Salvation Product Details

Released on 29/05/2009

In Terminator Salvation the videogame, based on the upcoming Terminator Salvation film from Warner Bros. Pictures and Sony Pictures, players assume the role of John Connor, a soldier in the resistance, battling for survival against the far superior forces of Skynet.

Terminator Salvation the videogame is an intense action-packed third-person shooter featuring concentrated armed combat against all of the Skynet enemies from the film and new killer machines specifically designed for the game. Taking place two years before the events of the upcoming film set in a post apocalyptic, decimated Los Angeles, players will be lead through a visceral, story and character driven gaming experience.

Featuring intense third-person action, Terminator Salvation the videogame will take combat to the next level with iconic enemies, cinematic fight sequences and advanced weaponry, drawn directly from the film, as well as an innovative, multi-layered cover mechanic.
  • New Instalment of Terminator Mythology: Set two years prior to the upcoming Terminator Salvation film, players will get the opportunity to be John Connor for the first time and continue the epic fiction of the Terminator mythology.
  • Unrelenting Intelligent Robotic Enemies: Unrelenting and incredibly resilient iconic enemies from the Terminator franchise fight to the bitter end on land and in the sky. Designed to pursue the player by any means necessary, damaged or broken enemies will literally claw their way forward to inflict harm.
  • Advanced Destructible Cover Game play: Terminator Salvation – The Videogame will incorporate advanced cover mechanics which allows players to use the destructible environment as protection and strategically navigate through enemy entrenched territory. The cover mechanic’s multi-faceted design changes the way “cover” game play is executed.
  • Diverse Array of Advanced Weaponry: The player has access to a wide array of weapons including shotguns, fully automatic machine guns, huge mounted weaponry, grenades, rocket-launchers and even a plasma firing Skynet tank.
  • Rugged Armoured Vehicles Gun Fights: Pursue, attack, or evade enemies through post-apocalyptic environments on foot or inside rugged armoured vehicles in extremely kinetic and extensive cinematic gun battles.

  • They're back

Little did James Cameron know when Arnie first appeared, in the skuddy buff, in a flash of electro-magnetic energy some 25 years ago, and asserted "hasta la vista, baby", that he was creating a pop-culture monster bigger than anything even Skynet could dream up. This year, the iconic franchise returns to the big screen in one of 2009's most hotly-anticipated movies - Terminator: Salvation - but this time something's different. Now you can join the fight, saving earth and battling the rise of the machines in Terminator: Salvation The Videogame.

    It's in the game

OK, we know what you're thinking: "games of the movie" have a reputation for being below par. But this is much more than your average retell, recycle, regurgitate movie game. You play as soon-to-be saviour of the human race John Connor as he rises through the ranks of Earth's human resistance, battling Skynet's cyborgs in the wasteland of post-apocalyptic Los Angeles.

This much more than your average retell, recycle, regurgitate movie game.

Set in 2016 - two years before the action of the forthcoming film - Terminator: Salvation tells the back story that links the latest movie with Arnie's last outing, Terminator: Rise Of The Machines, revealing the never-before told origins of the resistance and the development of Arnie's iconic T-600.

All that sounds impressive, but what does it mean for actual gameplay? Fundamentally, Salvation is a great-looking third-person shooter in a similar vain to developer GRIN's other title, Wanted: Weapons of Fate. Connor fights alongside a small squad of rebels: Blair - who can also be played by a friend in Coop Mode - and two others. With a cover-based combat system, you spend your time ducking, jumping and rolling as you attempt to halt the relentless onslaught of the oncoming tanks, auto-bikes, scout ships and T-600s.

    Exhilarating

On-foot fighting is interspersed with vehicular battle action reminiscent of the movie series' infamous car chases. Manning the gun turret of an APV as it speeds through a sea of terminators, the adrenalin-pumping destruction has an exhilarating, addictive arcade feel.

The phenomenal post-nuclear landscape is more colourful and stimulating than the concrete of most post-apocalyptic shooters.

All this is fought out over a phenomenal post-nuclear landscape, the shocks of grass and undergrowth that pepper the wasteland offering a more colourful, stimulating environment than the concrete of most post-apocalyptic shooters.

The stars of the show however are, unsurprisingly, the machines, and there's an army of painstakingly-crafted, never-before seen creations out to destroy you, as well the iconic harvesters and hunter-killers from the films. There's even the opportunity to don a Terminator's battle armour and view their clinical, blood-red world.

    Rise of the machines

Perhaps the only major disappointment with Terminator Salvation is the lack of an online multiplayer mode. You'd expect such an add-on to really come as standard with a game like this, and joining forces with fellow rebels, or alternatively donning the terminator suit yourself, over the net would be mouth-watering prospect, and is a glaring omission. Movie-fans may also be sad not to see Arnie's T-800 in action, though the earlier T-600 retains the haunting, red-eyed exoskeleton.

The fact remains, though, that Terminator Salvation: The Videogame is an engaging, exciting, shooter - high-praise indeed when its up against contemporary legends like Gears Of War 2. Well worth a look, whether you're a Terminator fan or not - it's time to join the rebellion.

Terminator Salvation
Great game, great graphics, great gameplay. An all round good game inspired from a movie, there's a first. The story mode on this is excellent, even on hard it isn't very difficult which is always nice. The missions vary a lot, one mission you could be walking around shooting spiders, the next on a train firing rocket's off at incoming terminators. Must buy game!!

Terminator Salvation
Decent graphic, gameplay styled abit like gears. Duck and cover system works for the game as it's needed from time to time. Friendly AI are smarter than AI in many other games and do help out with flanking the enemy. Gamerpoints are easy to rack up.Won't spoil the film as its 2 years before Salvation the movie. Downside, No online multiplayer/co-op

Terminator Salvation
If you like the films you'll like the game. It has fun levels, good graphics, and edge of seat action along with a lot of gamerscore for 11 achievements. But the colors are dull and some missions are really hard and frustrating and then other missions so easy you get bored. Overall very good

Terminator Salvation
This game is good while it lasts...however it doesnt last very long at all:-( the story is far too short and the fact that there is no online play just makes the game feel even shorter...i bought this game and i wouldnt recommend buying it to anyone, rent it or borrow it by all means as its easy gamer score and fun to play for all of 4 hours...the graphics are pretty good and there are some good cinematic pieces throughout the story...however the enemies combat system is very repetative and has a very nice rythem to it...lol...so overall i would NOT recommend buying this game, but i would rent it or borrow it just for the gamer score and to pass 4 hours along on a sunday afternoon.
