  • Hope you remembered to bake a cake: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega ever-young platforming mascot, hits his 20th birthday this week.

Two decades of Sonic! And it only seems like yesterday that we first saw him speeding through rings, racing off the edge of the screen, and trouncing Dr Robotnik back on the Sega Megadrive.

Since then, Sonic been a fixture of almost every games console going and it can be too long before we see him turning up on the 3DS, The PlayStation Vita, and the Wii U.

Created by Yuji Naka back in the early 1990s, Sonic was Sega attempt to rival Nintendo Super Mario, and while the plumber remains a classic in his own right, Sonic hasn done too badly for himself, giving platform fans everywhere a taste for fast-paced action and colourful levels.

Sega hero shows no signs of slowing down either no pun intended. Later this year, Sonic Generations will be hitting the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, and Nintendo 3DS. It promises to blend elements from Sonic 2D origins with his later 3D adventures, and the word on the street is that it one of the best Sonic games Sega has seen in years. Here to the next 20, Sonic!

Sonic the Hedgehog
I dont know why everyones trash talking this game. Its not a must buy game and its not a game to throw away when you buy itIt's in the middle but i would rate it a 5/5Also it introduces Silver and the new villian Mephilis(sorry if i spelt it wrong) I also enjoy the speed sections but if i were to point out on something to improve this game i would say...Make Silver a bit more fast because in short stages it take him like 6 mins to get here when he could get there in half the time if he was as fast as fast as Sonic or Shadow.By the way SEGA if you will make a sequel to this game PLEASE remove all the parts of the robots when they are destroyed because they are very fiddly.Anyway if you are a real Sonic Fan you will love this game and just accept all th glitches and problems

Just accept all the glitches and problems? I play a game to have fun, not stumble around in pure agony.

Sonic the Hedgehog
With riveting gameplay, stunning level design and a story that, for once, actually includes an element of complexity, "Sonic the Hedgehog" is finally the follow-up to "Sonic Adventure" true fans have been waiting for. Those who have the patience to work through the games - admittedly long and somewhat-complex - levels and take the time to master the super-powers of the hero hedgehogs will be rewarded with the most immersive "Sonic" experience in a long time.Set in the beautiful city of Soleanna, Sonic and his friends must outwit the latest machinations of mad scientist, Doctor Ivo Robotnik. Seeking to unleash the Flames of Disaster via the Chaos Emeralds, the bad Doctor unwittingly brings Solaris - the fire lord of Soleanna - back into existence. Sonic and company must travel through time in order to right the wrongs done, and do battle with the evil Solaris, who is more powerful than Chaos. From someone who has loved “Sonic” since the beginning, th

Sonic the Hedgehog
This is a great game at heart, with an amazing storyline. It explains Silver's and Blaze's back stories well too, and it also explains how Blaze came to be in Sonic Rush. Sure, the game is lacking in quite a few areas as so many people have said, but if you're a true Sonic fan like myself, then you should be able to enjoy this game regardless of what people say. You may not enjoy it entirely at first, but give it a bit more time, try each character and each mode out, and then you should be able to play it for hours.8/10 - 5 Stars
