Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Starter Pack Product Details

Released on 14-Oct-2011

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure creates a whole new genre, bringing together the world of toys and videogames. Your action figure becomes an interaction figure.
Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure includes a copy of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, a Portal of Power and 3 toys to start off your collection: Spyro, Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy. With a further 29 character toys available to purchase separately, you are sure to find the perfect hero for you.

Skyland has been conquered by Chaos, its protectors frozen and banished to earth. You are the Portal Master, controller of the Portal of Power. Only you can unfreeze Spyro and his pals and rescue Skyland from Chaos’ villainous clutches.

Each toy is a protector of Skyland, frozen by Chaos and banished to earth as a toy. Place your toy on the Portal of Power to watch them appear in the game ready to do your bidding, well, you are the Portal Master after all. If a second player wants to join the game at anytime, add their toy, next to the first toy on the Portal of Power, and they will join you. If you need to change your character to access their unique abilities simply switch out your current toy and put another on the Portal of Power.

The toys themselves offer many features, providing you with a host of new characters and abilities to help Spyro save the day once again.

  • Smart - They can save progress in the game, including all your loot, money, hats, upgrades and Portal Gates you have unlocked.
  • Upgradeable -Choose what upgrades you want and unlock different abilities that will allow you to access different areas. Then reset your character to play the game in a whole new way.
  • Elemental - Each character is linked to an element which grants them unique abilities. You, the Portal Master, must co-ordinate their abilities to progress through the challenges that lie ahead.
  • Sociable - They also work from console to console so you can take them around to a friend’s house to play.

Defeat Chaos and join Spyro and the other saviours of Skyland in a truly different kind of adventure!

  • Bethesda's sprawling and brilliant role-playing monster, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, fus-roh-dahhed it's way to an impressive five wins last night at the Interactive Achievement Awards.

Skyrim took home the top honours as Game of the Year, as well as awards for best RPG, gameplay engineering, game direction and story.

Other winners included Modern Warfare 3, which was voted best action game, FIFA 12, named best sports game, and Star Wars: The Old Republic, honoured for its multiplayer achievements. Uncharted 3 took home gongs for its animation and art direction, while the toys-come-to-life family hit Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure was singled out for its contribution to outstanding innovation. Britain's own Stephen Merchant took home the award for outstanding character performance thanks to his superb turn as Wheatley in Portal 2.

The ceremony was held during the DICE Summit in Las Vegas. Not to be confused with the Swedish Battlefield developer, DICE (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) is an annual gathering for the great and good of the games industry, and the Interactive Achievement Awards handed out at the event are the gaming equivalent of the Oscars. Only without the long emotional speeches, dance routines and dewy-eyed montages of dead celebrities, obviously.

  • THQ's new mixed martial arts game UFC Undisputed 3 has performed an aggressive takedown on its competitors in the UK all-formats chart this week.

The acclaimed Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 title debuted in first place in the official GfK-ChartTrack rankings, edging ahead of perennial favourite FIFA 12, which was back up to second.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 once again showed off its impressive staying power to climb back up to third place, while Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games achieved its highest ever chart position with a fourth-place finish.

Aside from UFC Undisputed 3, no other new games entered the top 40 this week, though there was a newcomer to the top ten: Activision's sleeper hit Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, which continued its steady ascent up the chart to seventh.

Next week, the charts will be well and truly shaken up by the debut of PlayStation Vita, Sony's newest handheld console, as well as a number of blockbuster games.

PS Vita launch titles such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss and WipEout 2048 are sure to make a splash, as are multiplatform games like the sci-fi shooter Syndicate.

Skylanders - what an excellent game!
This is a unique game playing experience which is great fun to play. My son and I could not resist playing this game every night. It's great to be able to play as different characters, the only disappointment is that we have already completed the game before we have had opportunity to play as some of the characters that haven't been released yet. We are however going to go back to it and start again with the new ones once they are on sale.

we got this at christmas and the two extra locations sets (the ship and the dungeons) it is great fun but very easy , my son was not stuck anywhere and has now finished the whole lot! no real point in buying extra figures to play through the same game and levles, just hope there are some new extentions soon , but even those at £20 only lasted a day! needs harder to do parts in the next one they bring out, otherwise our portal and starter kit along with the two sets cost £90, for just a few weeks play
