Silent Hill: Book of Memories Product Details

Released on 02/11/2012

Silent Hill Book of Memories is the first  is the first ever multi-player Silent Hill title.

This cooperative mode lets players explore the Otherworlds together, while scary surroundings, limited resources and dark atmosphere keep the tension high. The story follows a mysterious book, which includes all of the player’s memory – and this content can be altered…
  • Book of Memories, the controversial spin-off from Konami's terrifying Silent Hill series, will hit UK shops on November 2nd, the publisher has announced.

Why is it controversial? Because the game, exclusive to PlayStation Vita, is a top-down co-operative action game rather than a sinister single-player adventure. You'll be able to choose and customise your character from a selection of high school horror cliches - Jock, Bookworm, Rocker, Goth and Preppy - and team up with up to three friends to tackle monsters and solve puzzles. Iconic series antagonist Pyramid Head puts in an appearance, along with lots of other undulating fleshbag monstrosities.

The news comes in the same week as Silent Hill's closest survival horror rival, Resident Evil, releases its latest sequel - the epic Resident Evil 6.

Silent Hill: Book of Memories is developed by WayForward, the studio which has had considerable success in reworking old games in new ways. It successfully revived A Boy and his Blob for the Wii, and most recently released an updated version of classic arcade beat-em-up Double Dragon.

And if that's not enough, a second Silent Hill movie, Revelation, hits cinemas later this year in eye-popping 3D.

  • Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners will be treated to a double-dose of classic horror when the Silent Hill HD Collection arrives in Europe on March 29th 2012.

The new compilation will be hitting stores very soon and includes revamped versions of PlayStation 2 classics Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3, both widely regarded as true greats in the survival horror genre.

Each title has received a high-definition visual makeover, while the soundtrack and dialogue has been completely re-recorded by the original voice cast.

The HD Collection version of Silent Hill 2 also includes all of the extra content seen in the Director's Cut edition, making this package the ultimate means of experiencing both of these iconic games.

Silent Hill fans will be spoilt for choice over the coming weeks, as a brand new Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 instalment called Silent Hill Downpour is due to make its debut soon.

The series will also be making its PlayStation Vita debut in the spin-off title Silent Hill: Book of Memories.

    Published: 09/03/2012

  • Konami has announced that the forthcoming Silent Hill: Downpour will receive a soundtrack album release in March 2012.

Milan Records is set to bring out a collection of music from composer Daniel Licht's atmospheric score to the new Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 survival horror title, which is due out the same month.

Licht is best known for his acclaimed work on the popular TV series Dexter and has created a haunting, eerie musical accompaniment to prisoner Murphy Pendleton's unsettling journey through the eponymous cursed town.

The composer said: "I came up with a sound world that I feel amplifies and augments the player's experience. I incorporated numerous instruments including piano, mandolin and industrial sounds."

Silent Hill: Downpour also features a theme tune by Jonathan Davis, frontman of nu-metal band Korn, which is included on the album release.

March 2012 is set to be a huge month for Silent Hill fans, with the Silent Hill HD Collection and Silent Hill: Book of Memories for PlayStation Vita also due for release.
