SONY has revealed a new official PlayStation 4 wireless headset and it looks pretty swanky. The console will be getting a firmware update to prepare the system for the new tech.

The deep blue and black headset offers virtual 7.1 surround sound and has a noise cancelling microphone for top quality voice chat. It comes with a USB charger, which offers up to eight hours of battery life, but you can also use it with the PS Vita - or indeed any other audio device - using the included 3.5mm jack adaptor. The headset also folds up for safe and easy storage.

Perhaps most exciting of all, the headset will allow access to custom sound modes allowing individual games to offer their own uniquely tuned audio experiences. You'll need to download the upcoming free Headset Companion App to enable this feature, which will make its debut in the exclusive super-powered action thriller, inFAMOUS: Second Son. The companion app will also allow you to create your own preferred EQ audio settings.

The PlayStation 4 Wireless Headset 2.0 will be available later this year.
