The Nintendo 3DS XL literally expands the fun of the Nintendo 3DS with a 90 percent larger screen, creating even more immersive entertainment experiences for users, delivering a wealth of games and video content that can be enjoyed on the go. All 3DS games are compatible with the 3DS XL, meaning you can experience all the fun of glasses-free 3D graphics and gameplay, bigger and more vibrant than ever!
The Nintendo 3DS XL features a longer battery life than the 3DS, and even includes a 4 GB SD card which you can use to store content such as downloadable games and videos from the Nintendo eShop.
Please note – the 3DS XL does not include an AC adaptor; this will be sold separately. However, the adaptor from the 3DS and DSi is compatible with the 3DS XL.
Skidding on to the Nintendo 3DS comes Mario Kart 7.
Pick your favourite Mushroom Kingdom character and aim for the chequered flag in the latest addition to the popular Mario Kart family.
With new tricks under the hood Mario Kart 7, for the first time, gives you the opportunity to customise your karts to give you the edge in a race and gliding karts!
Mario Kart 7 will have racers careening through courses inspired by loved Nintendo such as Donkey Kong Country and Wii Sports own Wuhu Island.
Mario Kart 7 races onto your 3DS with these features:
- Different accessories to give you the edge in a race, will can choose big tyres for the off-road advantage or small tyres for the city courses?
- New abilities for your karts such as the new glider ability that lets you glide over short cuts after you’ve caught some big air. But that’s not the only new ability in Mario Kart 7…
- Choose to race as your Mii or a Mushroom Kingdom character. But who would you rather see on that podium your Mii or Mario?
- SpotPass and StreetPass features. How can you pass this up?
- Battle it out online via wifi or face off against your friends in Mario Kart 7 multiplayer action. You may lose friends but the glory is worth it!

Specially branded 3DS XL models coming to Europe
Nintendo may have the Wii U incoming at the end of the month, but that doesn't mean that its world-conquering handheld won't be getting some attention this Christmas.
The Japanese hardware giant has confirmed that we'll be getting some special 3DS bundles to keep us warm over the winter months. First out of the gate will be a special white 3DS XL available from November 16th. This model will come with a copy of Mario Kart 7 pre-installed, absolutely free..
Following that, and a must-have for collectors, is the bright yellow Pikachu branded 3DS XL, with the famous Pokemon mascot beaming up at you from the lid. This model will only be available in Europe in what Nintendo describes as "extremely limited" numbers so you'll have to pounce quickly to catch this one.
The 3DS XL boasts a 90% larger screen than the standard model 3DS, and has over 80% longer battery life.
