The latest reveal from the upcoming Mortal Kombat X has confirmed that fan favourite Kung Lao will return to the fighter's line-up. The news comes via Finnish games magazine Pelaaja.
Mortal Kombat X takes place a full 25 years after 2011's series reboot, and will feature appropriately aged and grizzled versions of the game's iconic characters. Kung Lao will have three gruesome fighting styles - Tempest, Buzz Saw and Hat Trick and will also be able to use his distinctive hat as a shield or a throwing weapon.
Also included in the magazine's preview was info on the new faction-based metagame. When playing, you'll be able to choose from five factions to fight for - Lin Kuei, White Lotus, Brotherhood of Shadows, Special Force and Black Dragon. Victory in both single player and multiplayer matches will increase the point total of your selected faction, and the game will alter its menus and other visuals to reflect your allegiance.
Mortal Kombat X is scheduled for launch in April 2015 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Once again, series creator Ed Boon is in charge with his NetherRealm studio.
