Not for the faint of heart...
I've been playing monster hunter since it's PS2 days, I followed it to PSP,and then to Wii. It's not like the usual type of games you buy where powerups are handed out like candy (a la Super Mario) this is a game that you cant's just run in and button mash- it's a game that forces you to become a better player, forces you to learn tactics, and forces you to accept that you aren't going to get it right first time, and you're going to have to come back and try something else. The latest version is pretty much a 'G' version of the Monster Hunter Tri game for Wii. To those who don't know, a 'G' version is, it's when someone at Capcom hits the big red button, the sirens go off and the lights flash and the Devs get free reign to up the stakes! I'll be honest MHT on Wii was a big disappointment after playing MHFU on the PSP, but here it's clawed it's way right back up there to where it should be with is hugely expanded content and more challenging game play. For me MH is handheld title, as it's been mainly on handheld platforms throughout it's releases, and this release for 3DS is taking it back to where it should be- back out into the wilds, and it's a welcome feel. Starting out compared to it's predecessors it's pretty easy to get into, so it should appeal to the a greater player base. It's not like the old days where people might get cheesed off with a horrific learning curve from the start, it isn't until you hit the 3* village elder quest that the "traditional" hardcore gameplay starts to kick in. Sadly again, there is no true online play, it's ad-hoc only- I'm just hoping that someone come up with a way to tunnel like we used to with xlink kai on the PSP. I don't use the 3D function for this game, it's distracting enough as it is, also i play on the 3DS XL, which has an even bigger screen than the old PSP, I feel that maybe the smaller screen of the standard 3DS might impact on your gaming experiance. One of the unique new features to this MH is the lower touch screen, flipping heck it's a godsend! you've got access to a lot of the info without having to have your main screen feeling so busy and cluttered like it felt sometimes on the older incarnations of the game- as I said it can be distracting enough as it is when your Great Sword is bouncing off a Rathalos's head lol So it gets a thumbs up for the return to it's handheld form, the expanded content, and the addition of the lower touch screen. MH4 is set for a Japanese release some time at the end of this year on 3DS, so I live in hope that we see some all new offerings come this time next year here in the UK. Don't give up, take a break and try something different if you can't complete a quest, you'll crack it in the end!

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Best Game on 3DS
I have been playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the past day and thoroughly enjoy it. I have played this series of games before, so already am a big fan. But this is hands down the best 3DS game that is out. You can hunt a wide range of monsters, as well as, farm, fish, create armour and weapons and multi-play with 3 people through local play. The only downside I would say is that it is not online, so if you do want to play with other people you will have to have some friends that have the game. But overall its a great game and a must buy for 3DS!
