Minecraft Xbox One announcement 'won't be long'

Indie juggernaut Minecraft will be coming to Xbox One, and Microsoft will be ready share details in the near future

Indie juggernaut Minecraft will be coming to Xbox One, and Microsoft will be ready share details in the near future. That's what producer Roger Carpenter has told Official Xbox Magazine.

"Nothing to share at the moment," he said of the next gen version of Notch's beloved hit, "but hopefully it won't be long before we'll be talking about Minecraft: Xbox One Edition in earnest. There are lots of cool things being worked on, we've been paying attention to what the community has been asking for..."

Scottish developer 4J Studios, which handled the Xbox 360 version of the game, has already admitted it's trying to see if saves can be transported across to the new console. "We're working on ways to move Xbox 360 saves to Xbox One with Microsoft," the company tweeted recently. "Can't say it'll be there until it's 100% working."

Carpenter also promised that there will be more themed content packs for the game after the success of downloadable Mass Effect and Skyrim updates, but reassured fans not to expect floods of DLC. "We've been discussing quite a few ideas for future mash-ups," he admitted. "The aim is that they're special creations - we're not going to do loads of them. The hope is that they provide players with something visually unique for them to enjoy their slice of Minecraft with."

Minecraft is out now for Xbox 360, and is coming to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One soon.
