Madden NFL 09
For those people who understand football this game is slightly better than its previous incarnations. The run blocking system seems better, passing is harder to throw those long bombs and the defence is much smarter. The animations themsevles are also much improved - RB's now move & turn better, receivers make an effort to put both feet inbound and the same itself seems alot smoother.Unfortunatly I agree with Brager - apart from those slight changes, the other 'features' dont warrent the high price tag. The rosters still need updating (ie, no Farve on the Jets, Spikes in SF etc) and most of the online features (such as ESPN news) require a Gold subscription! The superstar mode hasn't been touched in years, the mini games are identical and the 'virtual trainer' is useless other than a bit of fun - it doesn't help new players learn the game or how to call good plays. Some drills have little or no effect on the game itself.Worth it? No, but do you have a choice? Nop

Madden NFL 09
I really enjoyed the NFL games on the original Xbox, and 06,07,08 on the 360 werent too bad either. But this is not worth the price tag. How different and interesting can you make a game when essentially you're doing the same sport over and over and over? Not different or interesting enough unfortunately. The Madden IQ test does nothing for play style or difficulty whatsoever and just comes across as a failed gimick. Visually the menus are better than recent games but as far as in game visuals go, 08 was better looking than this. For those wanting achievements, the list is a clear indication that EA are running out of ideas, team specific achievements have been introduced but only for 4 teams in the whole NFL. The team/player/stadium creator is slow, unattractive and extremely limited bringing no added interest to the game at all. If you have any of the previous NFL games dont get this, its not enough of a genre improvement to warrant the money you'll be handing over to get it.
