Kid Icarus Uprising
One of the most beloved franchises in Nintendo's long history makes its glorious return in spectacular 3D. Pit of Kid Icarus fame is back in a new game designed specifically for the Nintendo 3DS system by Masahiro Sakurai, creator of the Kirby and Super Smash Bros. franchises, and his development team at Project Sora. Kid Icarus: Uprising is a fast-paced and actionpacked blend of aerial and ground-based shooting built on elegantly intuitive and streamlined play control. This follow-up to the original Kid Icarus - released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987 - has been at the top of gamers' wish lists for years.
Kid Icarus Uprising on Nintendo 3DS Features:
- Boasting game play that is easy to pick up but incredibly deep, the game is sure to satisfy novice gamers as well as fans who have been clamoring for a new installment in the franchise. The hero, Pit, teams up with Palutena, the goddess of light, who bestows on him the miracle of flight for limited stretches. With this gift, Pit soars through the skies, shooting down swarms of enemies, then alights and engages in frantic ground-based battles against Medusa's underworld army.
- Find and collect numerous weapons and items that offer bonuses and ability boosts. Players can choose weapons before they send Pit into battle, giving them countless layers of strategies in each level.
- Players can choose between a basic Blade, basic Claws and a basic Orbitar weapon. Blades are well-balanced, Claws have limited reach but increase running speed and the Orbitars can shoot two shots that grow in power over distance.

It seems like only a few weeks since we were slurping up news from Gamescom in Cologne (probably because it was only a few weeks ago) but now all eyes are on Japan, as the Tokyo Games Show bursts into life.
Predictably, Nintendo has dominated the first day of the show, with a slew of announcements that should make 3DS owners very happy.
First up is the news that the 3DS port of Monster Hunter Tri - with its second stick add-on - will be followed by official sequel Monster Hunter 4, which will be a Nintendo exclusive. Given that the series has driven the PSP to incredible success in Japan, that's quite a coup for Team Mario.
Also confirmed are pre-Christmas European release dates for Super Mario 3D Land (November 18th) and Mario Kart 7 (December 2nd). The lack of Mario on the 3DS has been a sore point since its Easter launch, so fans will surely be pleased with that. December 2nd will also see the European launch of Pokemon Rumble Blast, the first 3DS title for another classic Nintendo series.
Looking ahead to 2012, Mario Tennis and Animal Crossing will debut on the handheld, while Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus and Paper Mario are also on the way.

Nintendo has revealed that a new version of Mario Tennis will be among the bulging roster of big-name releases planned for Nintendo 3DS in 2012.
The previously unannounced sports game was revealed as being in development for the handheld console at a special event in Japan this week, with the title being the first in the series since Mario Power Tennis appeared on Wii in 2009.
Mario fans can also expect to see a new instalment of the charming Paper Mario role-playing series on the console next year, alongside ghostbusting adventure Luigi's Mansion 2.
Other 2012 releases will include a 3DS edition of popular lifestyle simulation Animal Crossing, which will include new features such as the ability to become the head of a village and personalise it with upgrades and additions.
The long-awaited Kid Icarus: Uprising will also debut next year, with the launch to be marked by a series of 3D Kid Icarus animations on the Nintendo Video service.
Nintendo 3DS has sold one million units in Europe since its March 2011 launch and will soon launch in a new metallic red colour.

Rising Star Games has announced plans to release a diverse array of new titles for the popular Nintendo 3DS this year.
Five new titles are planned for release on the fast-selling handheld system in the next six months alone, with the acclaimed retro rhythm action compilation Bit.Trip Saga coming in the first quarter of 2012.
This will be followed in the second quarter by the authentic fishing simulator Super Black Bass 3D and the puzzle/strategy sequel Cradle of Rome 2.
Also slated for release this year are the dimension-warping platform game Shifting World and Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns, the first 3DS entry in Natsume's iconic farming RPG series.
Martin Defries, managing director at Rising Star Games, said: "We're huge fans of the Nintendo 3DS, the freedom it affords developers and the unmatched fun it brings to the world of gamers."
It is looking set to be a big year for 3DS, with high-profile titles such as Kid Icarus: Uprising, Luigi's Mansion 2, Resident Evil Revelations and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D all coming soon.

Nintendo has revealed that the forthcoming Kid Icarus: Uprising will come with a special stand to help support the Nintendo 3DS console.
The stand will be included free with all copies of the game and can be used to balance the 3DS system at an angle on any flat surface, making it easier for them to take full advantage of the game's control scheme.
In Kid Icarus: Uprising, players control angelic hero Pit using the Circle Pad, while using the stylus and Touch Screen to precisely control their aim and direction, whether on foot or in flight.
The game also offers support for the new Circle Pad Pro accessory, which lets left-handed players hold the stylus in their stronger hand while using the additional right-hand Circle Pad for movement.
Kid Icarus: Uprising will be released in March 2012 and will be the first new instalment in the classic series since the release of Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters on Game Boy way back in 1991.
Blending aerial combat and on-foot action, it features a robust single-player story and online multiplayer modes.

Nintendo has provided players with fresh gameplay information on its forthcoming series revival Kid Icarus: Uprising.
The new Nintendo 3DS title arrives more than 25 years after the original NES classic made its debut and comes loaded with innovative features to bring the franchise up to modern standards.
As heroic angel Pit takes on Medusa and her Underworld Army on land or in the skies, he will have access to a wide variety of weapons spanning nine categories, including bows and claws, as well as a powerful Exo Tank in certain sequences.
The game also introduces a new feature called the Fiend's Cauldron, which can be used to increase the Intensity rating of the game, thus introducing stronger and more aggressive monsters, but also greater potential rewards.
Skilled gamers will need to earn hearts in-game and placing them in the cauldron to heighten the Intensity, bearing in mind they could lose this total if they are defeated during the chapter.
Kid Icarus: Uprising will launch in March 2012 and is developed by Project Sora under the direction of Masahiro Sakurai, acclaimed creator of the Kirby and Super Smash Bros franchises.

Nintendo has shared new details on the unique features that will define the multiplayer component of Kid Icarus: Uprising for Nintendo 3DS.
The high-flying action-adventure offers both local and online multiplayer battles for up to six people, with free-for-all and Light vs Dark team matches both available.
In Light vs Dark mode, two squads of three competitors fight it out with different weapons and try to exhaust their opponents' health meter, after which point the last remaining team member is transformed into an angel, who must be defeated to end the round.
Adding to the strategic depth of these battles is the weapon customisation system, which lets players earn and combine different instruments of destruction, while some power-ups can also be swapped wirelessly via StreetPass.
Kid Icarus: Uprising hits 3DS in March 2012 and also includes a single-player campaign combining on-the-ground action with hectic, combat-heavy flight sequences.
Developed by Project Sora, the team behind Super Smash Bros Brawl, the game comes bundled with a new 3DS stand and special Kid Icarus AR Cards.
