  • Just Dance 3 records blockbuster debut

Ubisoft has revealed that Just Dance 3, the latest entry in its blockbuster music franchise, has been breaking series records since its debut last month.

The smash-hit dancing game has proven to be the top-selling title on Wii in North America and Europe in October 2011, as well as selling 85 per cent faster than its predecessor Just Dance 2.

It is also the first game in the series to be released on Xbox 360 as well as Wii, with a PlayStation 3 edition also set to launch next month.

Rob Cooper, managing director for Ubisoft in the UK, said: "The social aspect of the game makes it the perfect game to play during the holidays with friends and family."

More than 17 million copies of Just Dance games have been sold across the world since the series made its debut in 2009.

Earlier this month, a special children's version, Just Dance Kids, was released on all three formats, featuring music from the likes of Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.

  • Smash-hit shooter Battlefield 3 has retained its position atop the UK all-formats chart, despite a strong challenge from Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

EA and DICE's acclaimed action game managed to continue its blockbusting pace to see off Naughty Dog's latest PlayStation 3 adventure, topping the official GfK-ChartTrack rankings for a second week.

However, second-placed Uncharted 3 was still able to generate massive numbers of its own, recording the 11th best PlayStation 3 launch ever, while far exceeding the debut of 2009's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Third place went to FIFA 12, while the ever-popular Batman: Arkham City and Just Dance 3 rounded out the top five.

Sega's latest Sonic the Hedgehog adventure, Sonic Generations, also cracked the top ten, slotting in at tenth place.

Next week's chart will be rocked by the imminent launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which is likely to break more than a few sales records when it debuts on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.

Acclaimed racing sequel Forza Motorsport 4 has cruised into pole position in the UK all-formats sales chart in its debut week.

Turn 10 Studios' new simulation managed to edge out reigning champion FIFA 12 to top the official GfK-ChartTrack rankings, achieving the best ever launch for an Xbox 360 racing game in the process.

Forza was one of several big-name new entries in the chart, with new Wii and Xbox 360 release Just Dance 3 slotting in behind FIFA 12 to claim third.

Holdover hit Rage came fourth, while FIFA 12's football rival PES 2012 made its arrival in fifth place this week.

Other newcomers to the top 20 this week included the likes of Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

Next week sees the debut of one of the most anticipated games of the year with the launch of Batman: Arkham City on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the PC version to follow next month.

Superb for little ones
Great multi-player game play for the kids. As soon as up to 4 people jump in, you can start playing. There is a good 'auto' mode as well for parties, that cycles through songs at random. Well worth the money

FANTASTIC!!
Just Dance 3 is a great game! Its great if you want to get back in shape! Playing 2 random songs on this game will get you sweating straight away! The greatest features of it: Its great fun; Many well known songs; You can create your own dance routine in Just Create which is perfect; It has 'Dance Off' where you dance to a song with the coach on the screen but at points in the song you become the coach and show off your moves and rhythm; The dance moves are not too complicated (anyone can follow on easy mode), but they can get hard for certain songs; There is normal mode, where your whole body is monitored (harder) and easy mode where only your waist and up is monitored (arms, head and torso). If you want something more professional you should buy Dance Central 2.
