George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy saga becomes a new epic fantasy RPG. Do you dare to play Game of Thrones?

Based on the best-selling series of A Song of Ice and Fire novels and featuring a new story devised by Martin himself, Game of Thrones on PlayStation 3 will allow fans of books, the TV series, and fantasy role-playing games to become immersed in the world of Westeros, Winterfell and more. This action RPG boasts all the vengeance, allegiance, betrayal and honour fans have come to expect from the series as players engage in a heart-pounding quest for the famous Iron Throne.

Playing as either Mors, Sworn Brother of the Night’s Watch, or Alester, a Red Priest in search of redemption, you can visit familiar locations such as The Wall and the famous King’s Landing, while well-known faces you’ll encounter include Queen Cersei, Varys the Spider and Jeor Mormont, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch.

In Game of Thrones, you have full control of your character and their development; choose your class, find your fighting style, balance your strengths and weaknesses, and take part in epic battles. Find, buy or loot new equipment and weapons to fit your fighting style, and gain experience to improve your abilities. And in-keeping with the books and TV show, political skills are just as lethal as a sharpened sword - never underestimate the power of a silver tongue when it comes to solving a critical situation!

Game of Thrones Features:

  • An epic Action/RPG offering an original story based on the best-selling novels, “A Song of Ice and Fire” by George R.R. Martin
  • Lush, fantasy visuals powered by Unreal Engine 3.
  • Visit familiar places and meet well-known characters, faithfully reproduced from the TV series
  • Play the game from the viewpoint of two different charismatic characters, each with their own background and skills
  • Progress the way you choose: get involved in epic fights, or try to solve explosive situations through dialogue!

A grand storyline, intriguing characters and thrilling fighting, all set in an epic fantasy world? Sounds like the ingredients for the perfect videogame to us. Enter then the TV & book Goliath that is Game of Thrones, now available on your Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC...

Take a series of best-selling books in the epic form of A Song of Ice and Fire. Then create a hit TV show from it in the shape of HBO's Game of Thrones. So where next? Blockbuster videogames of course! And now the epic and bloody tale of seven families doing all manner of nasties to each other in the name of power is unleashed in this third-person RPG.

Fans will find themselves choosing to fill the boots of either Mors, Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch, or Alester, a redemption-seeking Red Priest. If you're scratching your head wondering when these two ever turned up in the books, there's no need; they are brand-spanking new characters whose stories run parallel with the original violent, political, sexual (and potty-mouthed) plot that we all know and love from the books and TV series - plus the video game's story was written in conjunction with author George R.R. Martin himself, so it's the real deal, folks.

Best of all, you'll find yourself coming face to face with such stalwarts as Queen Cersei and Varys the Spider, and traversing familiar locations like King's Landing and The Wall; but now you're the one swinging the sword thanks to an in-depth combat system that allows gamers to slow down the action and queue up devastating attacks. For the more Machiavellian among you, there's also a dialogue system that lets you talk your way out of trouble instead, and form alliances and betray friendships; the ramifications of which can impact on the game's story.

Technically, Game Of Thrones might not be the sharpest sword in the blacksmith's, but as an RPG that brings the books and series alive on your console or PC, it's in a world of its own. Ice and Fire fanboys unite!

got game of thrones last week and at the same time bought the books after having seen the tv show thought the game woukd be good. couldnt have been more wrong the voice acting is rubbish the graphics are clunky and the story (which could have been great) is long and hard work to get through wish they had made a better game as the subject matter is great.

Game of Thrones...you play and it will let you down
I am a huge fan of George RR Martins books and the HBO series, I was eagerly anticipated this game, a chance to immerse myself in Westeros and see some of my favourite Game of Throne characters. I loaded the game up and was hugly impressed with the scenery, obviously a massive amount of time and effort has been spent in providing a glorious back drop to the adventure setting....the same can't be said for the central and ancillary characters, they are all mole-like (small heads and massive hands). Also the combat sequences are hugely complicated selecting groups of moves in slow motion time and then the character acting them out. You can change characters if they are in your party but have no say in their skill sets. Developing your character is also a pain, having to select strengths and weaknesses, so you can't make Mors into an uber-sword weilding killing machine without him being riddled with asthma and gout, or Alester a flame-toating pyromancer without an allergic reaction. The whole game feels unweildy and clunky as if the developer has tried to incorporate to many elements of other games, like the Witcher or Assassins Creed. The Game paly is way to script focused and cutscenes that seem to go on forever, I started to skip through text to get to the next quest point only to find out that I didn't know what I was doing. Overall, not impressed and I think this may gather dust on the shelf in favor of playing Skyrim...
