Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber Product Details

Released on 12/10/2007

King K Rool is up to no good again, and it's up to Donkey Kong to swing into action. Using the same simple control scheme that made the Donkey Kong: King Of Swing Game Boy Advance SP game so accessible and fun to play, players of all skill levels can swing and climb to new heights made possible by the dual screens of Nintendo DS.

It's easy to get in the swing of things in Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber for Nintendo DS. You control the game almost exclusively with the L and R buttons - seems easy enough. Whereas the controls are simple, the complexity is saved for the gameplay. A 2D platformer at heart, Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber follows Donkey Kong on a quest to stop King K. Rool and his Kremling Krew from taking over the universe. They've stolen Crystal Bananas from a visiting alien, and DK is the one ape who can stop them. To do this, he'll need to swing, from the Touch Screen to the top, through the jungle and other worlds. Similar to its predecessor DK: King Of Swing for Gameboy Advance, Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber is a game where DK is constantly in motion. To help him reach his destination on the top screen, you'll need to time his swings and press the L and R Buttons to make hum lunge from his current swinging point to another. There are plenty of obstacles that stand in his way, but Diddy Kong makes an appearance to help DK out. With Diddy's help, DK can perform range attacks and utilise special items, such as wings and hammers.

Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber Features:

  • New adventure mode featuring Diddy Kong
  • Take on up to three pals in fun multiplayer challenges

Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber
Anish and David pretty much made it clear that Junge Climber is a really good game so I will only try to give you some more details about it. Controls: A great idea applied really well! "R" and "L" buttons are Donkey's "arms", so each time you press "R" his right arm is moved and each time you press "L" you are moving his left one. It just feels like you are him and you can't understand unless you have tried it yourself. It only takes a few minutes until you get the grip of it.Sound: If you liked the franchise's sounds then you are gonna love Jungle Climber's sounds. It gives you the impression that you are playing some bonus levels of Donkey Kong Country.Graphics: Not perfect but still good. Especially when it comes to the DS standards.Overall: Probably not a must buy but definitely a must try!And for those of you that prefer numbers instead of words:Controls: 8/10Sound: 7.5/10Graphics: 7/10Overall: 8/10

Donkey Kong: Jungle Climber
Very good control method. Graphically its excellent for the DS. Shame RARE wasn't involved in the production of this game, as I feel they have produced classics over the years. Levels are challenging even at the entry level of the game. Loads of extras for you to unlock/find. Plenty of hidden levels etc. I give this game 9/10. Although RARE are NOT involved, the game still has the same feel and appeal.
