  • Weird Japanese cult hit Catherine will be getting a European release this year, thanks to distributor Deep Silver.

What is Catherine? Good question. dult adventure puzzle platformer survival horrorseems to be the most concise description. he most messed up dating game everwould be another. The plot revolves around a man called Vincent who begins suffering deadly nightmares after meeting the Catherine of the title. Gameplay alternates between Daytime, where Vincent hangs out in a bar sending text messages, and Nightmares, where he races against male love rivals (who appear as sheep) to reach the top of a giant staircase. So there you go. How about cott Pilgrim directed by David Lynch

Clearly, Catherine is aimed straight at those who appreciate the offbeat cult side of gaming, so anyone who enjoyed Deadly Premonition or Shadows of the Damned should be placing an order right now. The game will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3, in both standard and limited editions. The Japanese Deluxe Edition came with boxer shorts and a pillow case. Obviously.

  • Cult Xbox 360 survival horror game Deadly Premonition is set to receive an enhanced PlayStation 3 edition.

Yasuhiro Wada, executive producer of Access Games' surreal Twin Peaks-inspired game, confirmed during the recent Game Developers Conference that the team is hoping to unveil the new PS3 version of the game at this year's E3 show.

Released in 2010, Deadly Premonition follows FBI agent Francis York as he investigates the brutal murder of two girls in a secluded town in the US, encountering strange apparitions and a raincoat-wearing mystery killer.

To crack the case, the oddball York must travel around town and get to know the locals, while entertaining the player with movie trivia and rambling conversations with "Zach", an imaginary alternate personality.

York's appearance and hygiene levels change in real time, meaning players will need to eat, wash and shave regularly to avoid upsetting those he encounters, while minigames include darts, fishing and collecting trading cards.

Deadly Premonition divided gaming critics on its original debut but has since gained a loyal fan following thanks to its weird and wonderful nature, with the PlayStation 3 edition set to introduce it to a new audience.

  • Deadly Premonition, one of the most critically divisive games of recent years, is coming to PlayStation 3 in an improved director's cut edition.

The game, which follows an eccentric FBI agent investigating serial killings in a small American town, has built up a devoted fanbase on the Xbox 360. It's a weird mashup of horror, thriller and surreal comedy with many of its bizarre cutscenes becoming YouTube sensations in their own right. You have complete freedom to explore the town and the surrounding countryside, on foot and in cars, but characters will only be in certain places at certain times.

The game attracted both lavish praise and vicious criticism on release in 2010. "There is absolutely nothing in this industry that can compare to how weird and wonderful the whole experience is," said Destructoid's 10/10 review. "The Twin Peaks meets Resident Evil with a dash of Grand Theft Auto formula sounds pretty great, but it was well beyond the capabilities of this development team," declared IGN, giving it just 2/10.

It's the sort of game that must be played to be believed, and now it's coming back to PlayStation 3 with improved combat controls and additional scenarios. The visuals have also been given an HD makeover, and PlayStation Move will be supported.

"When Deadly Premonition went on sale, I got loads of feedback from the users, opinions, complaints," eccentric Japanese developer Swery told Eurogamer earlier this year. "So I've got a list of about 200 things they want improved. I'm going through that list and choosing the things I think will be good to work on."

As strange as it is, Deadly Premonition is certainly one of the most unique games of this console generation and open-minded PlayStation 3 owners should look forward to sampling its oddball charms early next year.

A Diamond In The Rough.
Deadly Premonition, at a first glance might seem like a game that belongs on the PS2 rather than the 360 but don't let appearances fool you. This game is rich is story and characters. Now first let me say that yes this game does borrow heavily from Twin Peaks. You could even describe it as "Twin Peaks - The Game", but it is so much more than that. It's the kind of game you really have to let yourself enjoy. It's so easy to judge the graphics and gameplay mechanics and just write this one off, but don't. At it's core DP is an open-world survival horror, where each citizen in the town has their own daily schedules, meaning you have to try and catch them at their place of work, or at their home when you want to communicate with them. The map area is massive and requires alot of driving to get from one place to another but the story hidden beneath all this running around is well worth playing for. A psychological thriller with supernatural elements is what beats at the heart of this grossly underappreciated game. Well worth the price.

deadly addictive
seriously if you give this game a chance it will grow on you. it starts out confusing and pretty crazy and then you realise thats it's charm, sure it looks like a ps2 game but whats wrong with that there were many good ps2 games. you play as a possibly dellusional FBI agent tracking a killer to a small remote town. i found it quite like alan wake so if your a fan of that give this a go and thank me later.

So bad its Fantasically Brilliant!
You're a FBI agent with an imaginary friend, you spend most of the game wondering if he is a nutjob, high or both, the controls are clumsy and not user friendly, but OMG the story is genious, i was glued to the game and the story is so engaging, one of those, i'll just do five more minutes and see whats round the corner (that turns into another hour) game Buy This Game!!!

Deadly Premonition
The intro was enough for me. Would be easy to control if you had more hands. Controls are awkward & clumsy. I really don't want to make an effort to go any further. DREADFUL

Deadly Premonition
Took me about 3 days to get in to it (and it is hard to like the game to begin with) and I was hooked, treat it like the best PS2 game but on the 360.
