Dead Rising 2 Classics Product Details

Released on 17/05/2011

You have 72 hours to slice, dice, slash and smash your way through the zombies that have you trapped in Fortune City. Dead Rising 2 puts you in the boots of Chuck Greene, a Motocross driver who is hell bent on saving his daughter from joining the hordes of Zombies that have taken over the city!

Combine hundreds of weapons to make lethal instruments to dismember the zombies before they can sink their teeth into you. Baseball bats are fun, but combine it with nails, and you have a true instrument of zombie destruction.

Don’t want to fight alone? Then call on a friend for some online coop or competitive multiplayer, and let the zombies hit the floor!
  • As good as Dead Rising 2 was, most players were disappointed not to see the original Frank West return to kick some serious zombie butt. Well, never let it be said that Capcom doesn listen to fans because at yesterday Captivate event, the publisher announced Dead Rising 2: Off The Record a hat iftake on the Fortune City outbreak, with everyone favourite chubby cameraman replacing Thomas Jane lookalike Chuck Greene in the lead role.

The announcement trailer shows Frank asking the question hat would I have done differently? The answer, naturally, is verything The photography aspect of the original Dead Rising makes a welcome return, with Frank earning experience-enhancing Prestige Points for his best snaps, while the opening sees him don a wrestling leotard to grapple the undead in the ring for gore-soaked gameshow Terror Is Reality.

As well as new weapons and new moves for Frank a spinning lariat attack shows he a fan of Street Fighter IV Zangief the game features a new checkpoint system, which saves before boss battles and after critical events, smoothing off, making this tough series a little more accessible to newcomers.

With a brand new area of Fortune City to explore, co-operative multiplayer and an additional mode Capcom isn prepared to reveal just yet, Off The Record is much more than a simple reskin of Dead Rising 2. Expect more zombie-killing fun this Autumn on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

not a bad game but pretty much the same as the 1st but with better weapons to kill the zombies good fun tho specially the combination weapons strapping a dead man to a wheel chair and electrocuting him is good fun haha

if you like killing thousands of zombies then this is the perfect game it has it all but the time limit for missions and the search for zombrex can be kind of annoying

Good but lacking something that dead rising 1 had...
Like the previous one, this is one of those games where fully completing the game on the first go is very hard, because you're too busy finding the funniest way to maim/kill/distract/immobilise the zombies. The story is a cheesy B movie stuff but not as entertaining as the first game story. The inclusion of a being able to fix up a motorcycle with weapons is fun but useless if you're aiming to complete the game fully as due to time constraints, it just takes up too much time to get to it and get all the items you need to do it up. Time constraints are still a pain and really tight if you plan to play to every main mission and side mission but it is doable. Controls can be frustrating especially if you’re jumping from one place to another, it can be awkward at times when fighting bosses. I’ve replayed dead rising 1 at least 5 times but there was something missing with dead rising 2 that I’ve only played it twice, could be lack of camera which was sadly missed, which I look forward to seeing back in the new Dead Rising 2: Off the record. There was also a lack of interesting characters, I can remember all of the main characters and a few of the bosses (especially the clown) in the first game, but I struggle to remember anyone beside the main character and his daughter in DR2. I enjoyed it but I found the first game better. I would give it a 3.5 if I could, so sadly it just gets a 3.

An improvement on the first... just
In a nutshell if you like killing thousand of zombies in a variety of ways then, faults included, Dead Rising 2 will entertain you. If like me, you expect a bit more than total zombie slaughter, the game tries but ultimately fails to live up to it's promise. When first played the improvements over the first are evident, better graphics, more responsive controls and lots more zombies on screen. Sometimes far too many, but perhaps that is due to my skill (or lack of) rather than any other reason. A neat change is the ability to combine weapons which also results in more amusing zombie re-deaths, but eventually you hope that the story will help you along. This is itself is a bit of a sticking point, while the story is there it is often relatively shallow and follows familiar lines. Time constrictions can also mean that further exploration is hampered, you often have little enough time to make it from one end of the game world to the other let alone go sight seeing. The RPG elements make a return although you can PP point multipliers by using combined weapons, not photography here. Although not the one trick pony I'm made it out to be, Dead Rising 2 is fun for a while but loses it's appeal once you've seen several thousand zombies bite the dust... again.
