Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is the next chapter in the critically acclaimed Company of Heroes series. Players take command of the German Panzer Elite as they struggle against the might of Operation Market Garden, or lead the British 2nd Army in the vicious battle for Caen, France. The standalone title features two unique armies with full length campaigns, new multiplayer modes, Microsoft DirectX 10 support, mission persistence, improved vehicle and soldier AI, enhanced physics, and a dynamic weather system. Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts is fully compatible with Company of Heroes, allowing players to wage war with four unique armies.

Dynamic weather adds chill factor to Company of Heroes 2
Long-awaited WW2 strategy game Company of Heroes 2 may be the perfect chill out experience, thanks to developer Relic Entertainment's new game engine.
The studio's new Essence Engine 3.0 contains something called ColdTech, which accurately simulates sub-zero temperature within the game world. "Company of Heroes 2 is all about authenticity and no game based on the Eastern Front would be complete without extreme weather conditions," game director Quinn Duffy says. "Thanks to the enhanced technology offered by the new Essence Engine we are able to accurately portray the bitter Soviet winter which crippled the German army."
Set during the bitter winter of 1941, the game will make the terrible cold a key element of its gameplay. When the temperature really drops, soldiers will freeze to death in minutes and must stay warm by making fires. Snow will melt and drift realistically, and both troops and vehicles can be slowed and even stopped completely by the weather. Ice will also play a part, with frozen lakes offering both useful terrain and deadly peril.
The original Company of Heroes was released in 2006 and led a healthy campaign of expansion packs over the following few years, with an online version launched in 2010.
THQ will publish Company of Heroes 2 next year for PC.
