The game has been out for almost six months but, conveniently just in time for Easter, Battlefield 4 players have finally discovered the game's long-rumoured top secret Easter egg. It's a giant prehistoric megalodon shark, and it bursts from the waters on the Paracel Storm map - but only under the right conditions.
Those conditions were discovered by dedicated fans who worked out that when you get ten players surrounding the buoy out to sea on Paracel Storm, the enormous beast launches itself from the waves with a roar and splashes back into the depths. It's genuinely spectacular - particularly if you're underneath the thing on a jetski.
Players had known since the game's launch that there was a large secret to be uncovered, apparently put there by DICE designer Aleksander Grondal. He was quizzed about the rumour by a Swedish website last October. "The secret's still in," Grondal replied. "I don't want to reveal what the secret is [but] I've been online on the US servers, doing the thing that is my little secret and it's still there. I don't want to say too much about it but it's pretty damn cool. It's not something that only one person will experience it. Anyone that is on the server at the time this is happening will notice and will say 'What was that?'"
So now all you have to do is get together with some friends, fire up Battlefield 4 and go find yourself a prehistoric shark. Happy hunting!
