The only difference between this and a normal xbox 360 is that the pro has a hard drive and a chrome tray. The arcade system is ideal for people who don't have the capabilities of getting xbox live
(for example if i wanted xbox live id have to have leads trailing up the walls and drilling holes through the floor to fit them into my room
Plus you still get quite a bit of memory for games, ive got 10 save games so far on my memory unit and its only taken up 14mb.
Another good point is the price, cheaper than a nintendo wii and vastly superior. And pretty much HALF the price of a ps3

Just to correct a few people in these reviews. Previous xbox 360 releases were very loud, these improved (arcade, pro) have a better fan with far less noise than the older versions. To answer the question on why you should buy this and not the core version: 1) Theres extra accesories with the arcade version including a wireless controller, 256mb memory card, and the added HDMI compatibility, which is a must for improved graphics. And with the gammeware HDMI cable at only £9.99 its easy to get HD gaming. 2) These 2nd gen xbox 360's also come with an improved motherboard which MS claim will remove the possibility of the dreaded '3 red lights'
This is the cheapest console around of this current generation and is arguably the best, so if you haven't got one of these, then now is the time. There is no doubt that it is money very well spent.

as a console, it doesnt reallky matter which version you buy. you can always buy this one & get the hdd later to save money or what ever,
the 360 is a fantastic machine. its slightly loud but those people who complain about the ring of death they should take it back to their retailer and ask for a replacement. it is within your rights i beleive if it is a fault product within a year of purchase or replacement of the product. the first console i had did this after 3 weeks. since then ive not had a problem with it for two years.
I paid £280 for my premium console a few years back. and its been a worthwhile investment.
the ps3 is ok if u like solo play. but it lacks diversity in developers willing to put titles specifically on their platform, because sony took too long between their console releases and lost out to the likes MS & Nintendo.so for overall richness & quality of gameplay go for the 360.
i somehow doubt you'll see marcus fenix carving up locust on your s

Graphics wise the 360 is better than the PS3, I know I have both and I am very disappointed with the PS3. The Red rings issue occurs with misuse, I have looked after my launch console and it has never let me down, the 360 has nearly 1000 titles and whilst some are bad, the vast majority are superior to anything that is out there for the PS3, why did I get a PS3? Because there are some exclusive games that will not be available for the 360 (Haze, The Getaway, MGS etc.) and that is the only reason. the 360 is the better machine anyone saying otherwise, has not run the same game parallel and is a fanboy and not a gaming enthusiast.

1st of all id like to say if you put the xbox somewhere thats niceley cooled it WONT overheat therefore never getting the 3 red lights. Ive had 2 360s to date (the original premium from launch and the elite) and they both still work. By a cool place i mean preferably somewhere that has a hard surface and NOT a carpeted floor i.e a tv cabinet desk etc. Also do NOT stack things around it covering the air vents just thought id bring that up cos everyone i know thats had the 3 rings placed the xbox in this kind of way and they had them probs till they moved it now they never had the 3 red rings. Anyway its a great console with hd movie downloads, original xbox downloads (and back compatibility), great selection of 360 only games as well as multi platform games and xbox live arcade with all the retro games. Overall though its down to personal preference of games rather than the hardware and for me the 360 is the best followed by the wii ive not seen enough games worth getting a ps3 for.

By far the best console out there right now.
Ignore what all these people are saying about PS3 being better. The kind of people that say Playstation is better say it because the PS brand is all they know. Take it from someone who knows, the 360 is the machine to have right now. It has more games, a better controller and it's a hell of a lot cheaper.
PS fans spout forth about all the things you get and they do it because nobody ever asks them to elaborate, well allow me. The SOLE and ONLY thing you get with a PS3 (without having to buy additional, very expensive hardware) that you do not get with a 360 is a blu-ray player. Nothing else, feel free to research it yourselves. Game wise, all the PS3 has right now is the upcoming MGS4, there aren't really any other killer exclusives.
The graphical quality of the two consoles is near identical (they are consistently outperforming each other) and so are the media steaming capabilities.
If you love gaming, get a 360.

xbox 360's are quiet loud and when playing games you have to have the sound loud to not hear the fan plus why bring out a arcade when you could just get a core system

If you want an Xbox 360 then you need to look at the Elite. Any of the earlier versions have a very high risk of 'hardware failure' as Microsoft put it. The games are superb and Xbox live is brilliant but the system itself is notoriously unreliable. Just Google search 'Ring of death.' The failure rate for Xbox 360's is reported by some to be near 30% so you have a roughly 1/3 chance of it going wrong. I was one such victim. I am on my second failure now (My 360 failed once, got repaired and failed again.) I won't go into the technicalities but it is a problem in the design of the earlier systems. Microsoft will repair your system for free a the time of writing and Game are great with advice and help but when buying a 360 avoid the white ones. The black Elite system is reportedly far more reliable and newer editions will no doubt improve. It may be more expensive but the sheer number of top titles alone should be enough to convince you.

Half the price of the PS3 and a far better machine..
New 360s are 175w and no problems (just like early PS2 problems they have now been sorted
Far better value than the PS3, PS3 has no good games, No backward compatibility, No dual shock, and online gameplay is laggy and limited and a lot of companies do not let you play online on the PS3 as they have to pay for their own servers whereas you can on the 360 versions i.e Sega Virtua fighter 5, virtua tennis(no online for ps3 versions) etc.
360 servers will never go down due to lack of players online that is why you pay a small fee for MS to maintain them and you can also download High Def films and Xbxox 1 games direct to your hard drive PS3 cannot do anything like this.
360 also has a micro keyboard available which connects to your joypad so you can send MSN messages etc PS3 can only use a FULL size keyboard( may as well just use your pc if you have to use full size keyboard).....
