I suppose the clue is in the title "party". This is brilliant for party games and it is the simplicity of the whole game that makes it so great for a party game. It is easy to play the minigames, yet it provides loads of laughter and fun. It is a bit slow on some scenes, but that gives you a change to interact with the other players as well. As a one player game it may feel like it is dragging out, but then it is not really meant as a one player game.
I love this game and so did everyone we played with during a couple of parties. Even the kids enjoyed it (youngest is 4).
I will highly recommend this game for anyone who is looking for a game that can be played with a group of friends who are looking for a laugh.

Very fun game, single player isn't as bad as some people say, but the purpose of the game is for multiplayer which is fantastic, we've only got two remotes but we still have plenty of fun on it, some mini games are brilliant, some are not so good, its easy when you play the computer but when you play against friends and family is hysterical and loads of fun. Brilliant game for familys - a must buy in fact. 9/10

BAD! It's slow, the levels are really long and drag and I am yet to see the point of it. Might be better as four player but I doubt it.

Playing the game single player is like torture, one of the worst games i've ever played.
It improves slightly playing multiplayer, but definately not worth buying. 1/10.

Mario Party 8 is a good party game, which gives loads of different ways each type you play.
With big selection of characters and boards, plus the big selection of minigames make this the biggest Mario Party game in the entire series.
The Wiimote controls are fantastic as you flick, swing and swipe the Wiimote to get it through minigames.
Board games can be annoying to unlock sometimes and so canthe minigames, but i think the boards are more than worth it, for the little time you actually spend doing it all.
Rating - 7/10

After Mario Party 8 was confirmed for Wii, most people thought "Wow, this HAS to be good. It's on the Wii! I mean, with motion sensing, this has got to improve the MP games, right?" Wrong. The fact it's on the Wii means it should take advantage of its technology, but no, it doesn't. This should be a Gamecube title, because it would have been suitable for the console. MP8 doesn't take advantage of the Wii's capabilities, the games become repetitive quickly and most people will finish the game in 3-4 hours. Buy this game just for parties and other events. Otherwise, avoid.
