SummaryProduct Details

Valkyria Chronicles is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s Europe - divided in two and ruled by the Empire and the Federation. The Empire has set its sights on invading a small neutral country called Gallia, which is situated in the middle of the two great empires. The game follows a hero named Welkin and his fellow soldiers of the Federation’s 7th Platoon as they engage in a series of epic battles.

Absolutely amazing game. I couldn't recommend it to strategy/action/rpg-ish fans enough.

I am glad to see so many agree with me, this game should have been given a far bigger push. It's beautiful, fun and it's just downright brilliant. Brilliant story, great characters (even with so many) and I must say it was one of my best buys for my ps3. This game should have been praised yet it went unnoticed with moguls just drooling over games that really should have taken a backseat to this masterpiece.

This game is nothing short of amazing. Any reservations are put to bed as soon as the main story begins. Rarely does a game actually evoke such emotion. I can't remember the last time I actually cared about a bunch of characters. Based on this game I am considering buying a PSP just to play the sequel. I hope this game eventually gets the recognition it deserves, as for me its already one of my favorite games and a great reason to own a PS3

It just saddens me when a truly innovative, enjoyable and downright gorgeous game is produced and fails to sell to the ignorant masses. Valkyria Chronicles is a truly stunning game combining brilliantly executed gameplay, a great cast of characters, enjoyable story and beautiful art style and music. You could classify this game as a strategy RPG yet it implements some 3rd person shooter elements (but is isn't like Gears of War, there's much more thought and strategy involved). There literally is no other game out there like it and is a game every PS3 owner should try out. Do not get discouraged by the anime / cel-shaded style visuals because they are perfect for this type of game. A superb game and was my vote for Game of the Year 2008. I hope its recently announced sequel on the PSP is just as good.

A truly stunning game that evokes gaming emotions not felt since PSone era jRPGs. With 'next gen' jRPG efforts being rather middling so far, you wouldn't have expected Sega to be hosts to an overlooked gem of a game. From the off, the game is striking, with pencilled anime style being the order for the graphics and a breath of fresh air from the hordes of generic 'realistic' 3D efforts that punctuate the catalogues of today. The gameplay is a hybrid of Disgaea style turn based battling and third person shooting, with you and the enemy taking turns to move your troops and tanks in an attempt to deploy a tactical masterstroke. As the game evolves you find yourself absolutely engrossed in the challenges that the epic battles lay out for you. Thanks to a freshness of storytelling that is genuinely involving and gameplay that satisfies, this is one game that you should own if a PS3 sits under your TV. Possibly one of the games of the machine so far.
