SummaryProduct Details

Set 50 years after the climactic events of the original Red Faction, Red Faction: Guerrilla allows players to take the role of an insurgent fighter with the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. Red Faction: Guerrilla re-defines the limits of destruction-based game-play with a huge open-world, fast-paced guerrilla-style combat, and true physics-based destruction.

The nearest real-world equivalent to the gameplay in Red Faction Guerrilla is picking up a sledgehammer and ploughing through a house, knocking down walls. The physics cope with this destruction really well and give you some interesting methods of completing your goals; do you sneak around a building to kill a guard or just hop in a vehicle and plough right through, squashing the guard in the process? Add in explosives and a fairly decent storyline and you have the makings of a good game. Variety is provided in driving missions and some mini-game style events which ask you to blow up objects with certain tools or in a time limit. Ok, it can get a bit samey after a while, hence the 4 star rating, but somehow the need for destruction keeps you coming back for more and the multiplayer adds a new twist, especially when you can play capture the flag by drilling through the enemies walls!

I love this game, its the best game i've ever preordered, the destruction system is impresivly awesome (everything man-made can be reduced to tiny pecies) and because of that the game has almost infinate replay value. The oline makes good use of the destruction engine without having a low frame rate which would be expected, instead it very rarely lags. Real stratergy can be used because you can go through missions however you want because of the destruction (its so fun!). There are a large diversety of weapons, allmost all of which upgradeable. There are two dlc packs released and another in development, the two packs so far released are great and just add to the experience.

I bought this game a few day's ago and I'm having a blast playing it. The main thing making this game so fun is the destruction system in the game. You can destroy anything on this game, cars, buildings....you name it, and its a blast. Watching a building crumble after placing 10 explosive all over the structure is a beauty to be hold. It looks fantastic, and even better is the hammer Mason has at his use. He can half pack a whack with that thing, and after several blows with the hammer, a building will crumble to his feet. It just looks fantastic, and the system is brilliant and every game should try and adopt this destruction type somehow because it really doesn't get more fun. The story is great with over 100+ missions/side missions, blowing up buildings, saving hostages it's a great line up. Also mars itself looks great with lodes of great vehicles and the creative side of the makers really shines on the design of the whole game. You can upgrade your weapons and character, and buy

The single player campaign has 100+ missions scattered across 6 distinct sectors. Although there are no loading times between sectors, some areas are completely inaccessible due to large mountains or invisible walls. Missions range from daring rescues to levelling EDF structures, all of which help boost morale amongst the civilians. If morale is high enough then civilians will lend a hand when you need it most, turning a quick raid into a warzone within seconds as both factions rush reinforcements into the fray, making for intense fire fights. All manmade objects are destructible and stay that way for the duration of the game. Destruction rewards salvage which you trade in for upgrades and new equipment, the stockpile gets better as the story progresses. Theres a multiplayer mode for 16 players per game with the usual TDM and cap the flag modes on offer plus siege and damage control which make use of the games destruction feature. It has faults but its worth every penny. 7/10
