Folklore was one of the games that made me want a PS3 in the first place, I have to say after playing the game I am glad I purchased it. I don't think Folklore is the best game out for PS3, but is deserves to be checked out all the same. For me the storyline is serious, but the characters involved add a slight humour to the mix, not to mention the amazing character design. The monsters that you encounter all have their own look and feel. Some of the tasks you have to perform fully uses each monsters special function and also the use of the sixasis controller, which is integrated into the gameplay extremely well. The game has a kind of dark unique feel to it, which drags you into the storyline, or at least it did for me. The swopping between characters and doing the same chapter again can get a bit tedious. Then again it gives you a chance to look for something you may of missed. I guess I would have to say it all comes down to what you are a fan of really. I give this game 8/10 because

If you played Lost Kingdoms on the Gamecube and liked it, then you'll love this too. It's very similar gameplay except for the six-axis motion control. It's a great early title for the PS3 and still stands up now. Bit repetative gameplay, but if you enjoy this kind of gameplay, then that's not a downside. I'd give it a 7/10.

This game all be it probably not for everyone is one of the shining examples of why its great to own a Sony product. A game like this simply does not happen on other formats. The art direction is second to none. While as some other reviews have pointed out you may come across elements which you do not like this is merely a product of how diffrent the worlds (realms) are, magical faery lands, an aquatic palace...hell. While i can not sing praise high enough of the art direction and the makers desire to do something new they left the level design a little light and to compensate for this flaw you will be playing the same levels as Ellen then Keats with occasional quests that you'll resent doing. It may have been easier to accept this if it didn't feel like a ploy to add game time. I personally would rather have a great 8 hour game than a repetative 16 hour game but meh... Weighing up the pros and cons this is still a very good game, the sad thing is it could have been great.
