SummaryProduct DetailsTechnical Details

The story of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky brings the players one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in 2011.

A group of stalkers has for the first time reached the very heart of the Zone - Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and brings about a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe. An immense blow-out of anomalous energy changes the Zone. There are no more reliable and relatively safe roads. The entire levels vanish in the outbursts of anomalies. Stalkers and even expeditions die or end up sealed on the lost territories. New areas, which remained unknown since the time of the Zone emergence, appear on the Zone map. The Zone continues to shake with blowouts. The Zone is unstable. The anomalous activity is at its maximum.

Brilliant game, its the prequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernyobl, the interface is a bit more complicated than in shadow but the PDA has been improved, there are now faction objectives and you can choose who to go with. The ending was disappointing but then after reading its a prequel it makes sense. I liked the fact that you can repair and upgrade your armour rather than in Shadow where you had to find a replacement. The gun jamming is a lot worse in clear sky though, the zone doesnt have Bar, and Pripyat, and the the eastern part of Red forest. The change in anomlieis is really annoying, and artefacts being invisible needing a detector annoying.Whats nice is all medkits reduice radiation unlike in the shadow were only yellow ones did. Overall its a great game although comparing it with Shadow I think i prefer shadow.

I guess I’m a little late for reviewing this game, never mind... Pros: Great atmosphere, good combo of visuals and sound effects makes for a very unique 'world'. Interesting story, all be it a little confusing and unbelievable... The gun fights aren't bad, you get a decent level of control over your characters movements, allowing you to move, take cover and shoot back in a relatively realistic manner. Cons: Loads of bugs and crashes... I mean loads! I read a lot of reviews before I bought this title, most all of them warning of the problems within the game. but having a fairly up to date, and solid system I thought I might fare better than most. not the case... mission characters will bug and not speak to you, or not follow the script for a given mission, resulting in a fail. and it seems just about any action has the potential to crash the game. Sometimes I can't get more than 5mins of gameplay before it crashes again. I could write pages about the problems I’ve encounte

While the original Stalker was outstanding, made even more so by mods such as Oblivion Lost, STCS is a big disappointment. The unpatched game is basically unplayable due to the amount of bugs, if you're buying this then patch up to at least 6 and then keep on going. Nowhere near as atmospheric as Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl it still has good points don't get me wrong, but even the faction wars are still prone to oddities despite nine patches (so far). All in all while this is a decent enough game I had been expecting far more. Oh well.
