Ubisoft projects third quarter growth
06.11.2009
Despite a tough year for the gaming industry given the effects of the economic downturn, games developer Ubisoft is expecting to have recorded positive growth in the third quarter of the year.
While sales totalled $83 million in the second quarter of 2009, representing a decline of 52.8 percent, the organisation is forecasting sales to have risen by six per cent from the same period last year.
Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft chief executive, explained: "Although the environment is still uncertain and the full effect of the sharp drop in console prices has yet to be felt, Ubisoft has the advantage of a diversified and very high-quality line-up."
Among this range of titles are Assassin's Creed 2 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DSi, as well as James Cameron's Avatar: The Game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Nintendo Wii and DSi.
The latter is expected to hit shelves early in December - just in time for Christmas.
